Target Audience
This is probably the biggest stereo type of my song. I feel like the song will appeal to all ages because of the artist and the laid back tune. If i had to pick on stereotype tat would be an avid listener to my song i think it would be the "chill out maan" kind of surfer dude.
My surfer dude's Life
- Wakes up late.
- Has long blonde hair.
- Lives on a beach house.
- Wears a straw hat and sandles.
- Eats cereal and take away because it is easy.
- Goes to the pub.
- Wears quick silver, hoodies and shorts.
- Has a girlfriend
- doesn't play video games.
- Works out.
- Parties.

Equipment I will be using.
This is a crane for the camera. We have one
readily available at our school, i will be using
it for shots around the house to get all the
angles of the singer and to get the smooth
movement of the camera around the room
or location. It will be perfect for my opening
shot of my sleeping musician as i can hover
perfectly over his face as he gradually wakes up.
This is the dolly i will be using, i want
to use this because it provides a very smooth
action with the camera and i can achieve a
great panning or following shot of the singer
as well as having the rig i will be making f
or the attached shots of walking through
town , eating ect.
This is similar to the rig i am going to
create. I would like one that shoots of
the singers face as he is going through
actions like singing or walking and just
shots of his/her facial expressions.

poster 4
Love this poster, its just a little bit different to the norm ! took a fair bit of editing mostly in the liquify area of photoshop like turning the smoke into a man and adding trees and thorns onto the snooker cue. It was a fun excersize and gave me a chance to use the skills i learnt in photoshop wierd book tutorial.
3rd poster
one more to do and i am going to make it as complex as i can with all of the skills i picked up on whilst doing my book.
Photoshop tutorial.
After getting to this point in the set task i decided to start to recording what i was doing, by this time i had got the background in and changed the color's , brightnesses est. i have put the wooden layer on and changed the brightness and colors and more. Also i had cut out the book changed the brightnesses, cut out the pages and replaced them with the grassy field which took a lot of work to bend the grass and cut it and keep it to look like the grass was actually pages.
This was getting the road onto the book and also getting the shadow in the crease of the book to make it look more 3.D. The road was cut out of a picture of a road with the quick selection tool then warped to fit with the book and then i used the burn tool to put shadows on to the road.
The last stage was adding the tree and the lamp post clock into the mix to give it a more of a 3.D look. This envolved the magic lasoo tool for the tree and then selecting the tree and bringing down the brightness as to quickly get rid of the white patches, the lamp was easy just needed cutting out and placing in the right layer and then an easy shadow was done with the burn tool. This only took a couple of lessons and i am really pleased with the result, i definately feel like my photoshop skill have been dramatically improved.

Digi pack -4
This was just to see different ways of constructing what will be my final digi pack , i like the idea the two busy middle covers, but as i said earlier i would like it to be of something, like people, or in a town ect.

Posters, do's and dont's

This is cool. I like the colours but it still is a bit too much, its gets everything into it that it needs but is obviously too busy for the music genre i am doing, and i am not to keen on the graphics i want mine to be an emotive picture, with dramatic clouds and an amazing view and my actor sitting in the bottom right hand corner (rule of thirds) with a guitar or his "token"
This is exactly the kind of poster i would be looking at making, the shot is amazing even though on this poster it is more than likely that he was not standing in front of that background but still is affective. i like the simplicity of the poster and the fact that you can read everything that is on it unlike the "dont's" that i have posted lower, where there is too much happening you cant see yourself think. It also would'nt fit the film i am doing, the busy posters are to load and in your face like a dance music poster and it just would not go with my genre.
This is the kind of poster i am talking about, i like it but it would not fit my music video and it is not really advertising the group. It's not displaying dates of album releases or concerts not even the groups name. I want a calm poster a model chilling on the beach with his guitar or a token. i was thinking about this token idea, maybe a bear or a flower or anything that continues throughout the music video.
This is the calm poster i am talking about, this is obviously a bit odd and abstract but you could easily add all of the things i was talking about above, like the title, the group, album release dates, concert dates ect.

draft 2 digi pack - Another one of my digi packs.
Maverick Sabre is now the artist of the song i will be making a music video for, i do not intend for the final album to be like this as i feel this is to aggressive and rap star. All this digipack has done is give me some indication of what i wont be doing

Actors

All three of these have agreed to be in my music video, the two girls have offered to look pretty and sing and the two boys dont mind being the character swap for a bit, i still need a main actor. A few members of my family have agreed to be in it so now all i need is to do auditions to see who fits the roll best, with the best acting skills, lip sinking skills and who suits the song best.
IDEAS IDEAS IDEAS
- I have had some ideas that i really like and would like to put the down so i do not forget and i follow them through.
- The shot i have mentioned of the changing character, following in the same footsteps of the last character and continuing the song from where the las actor left of, i think this would be really affective. I need to find out first if it is a female or male actor, the song is sung by a man, but it could easily be sung by a woman, i imagine her being in her 30 to 40's if it was a woman, if it was a man i would imagine him rocking the whole indie look, with the cord skinny jeans and the pork pie hat with the hoody that is too big for him. This is why i will need to do a lot of auditions, just for the main singer, i am also going to audition people just on their lip sinking skill and confidence so they do not shy away from making my film look as realistic as possible. I will need a lot of auditions for the change of character shot, i really want to pull this shot off and make it affective.
- The other big idea is a large contrast to my original idea of just going through the motions of a romantic music video, I have had the idea of the singer being filmed while he is sleeping, he wakes up singing and goes through his daily routine just singing, brushing his teeth, washing, doing his hair, eating, driving, working and then obviously for the booming happy chorus shots of an amazing house party, every one loving life, mates around a camp fire ect.
The story board i had created for Ed Sheeran - Fireflies
Basically i was thinking about other music videos that are of the same genre as this song. It is hard to film anything else than the generic walking on the beach, skipping, laughing, chatting, singing. This was going to be the male guitarist walking towards the camera and setting up his chair and guitar ect. ready to play, i was going to have the main singer starting off the walk and a he walks he changes through different people of different sex and ages.
This is my generic guitarist singing to the camera "again" on a chair, all the way through my blog i have spoken about keeping away from the "crowd"not following the same old same old and looking back i have done just that and it boars me just talking about it so a change in song where i can do a bit more to different locations, people, actions, story lines would fit as well as the origionals and also i love this song so i will enjoy making a video for it.
This would just be a shot to maybe a slow motion panning shot with a various use of depth of field, the shot would have all of my mates round the fire on the beach having a good time, drinking laughing, pushing each other playing ect. Just when he sings firefly, i like this idea and could well use it with my new music video in the happy chorus.
And here is another shot of the guitarist walking through the woods, doesn't make sense, why would he be in the woods but hey. I would have either filmed the guitarist or another actor walking towards or away from the camera. One idea i have kept from the old film is the singer walking towards the camera singing and then changing figure into another one of my actors who will continue to walk and continue to sing.
This was supposed to be a picture of a town or a park, it was my idea of a singer walking through the busy town centre not noticing anyone and singing to himself or too the ground, so pointless and boring, i will use this shot but in conjunction with the story line that i am thinking up of for my new music video, i want it to make some sort of sence.
(The beach shot) not much more to say, i think this would be better with the new music video because he sings of blue sky's and sunshine, i would like a shot of the male singer walking across the beach singing to the floor, looking around just singing, i really want to get to grips with depth of field as i think an affective shot of the glistening shot would help dramatically, or the sky, i am going to make the shots as colourful and vibrant and exciting as i can.

This was going to be another shot of someone walking towards the camera, it was going to work with the body change shot, i would just like a few female characters and actors of all ages.

Maveric Saber - I need
I heard this song on the radio this morning and strait away ideas started popping into my head, i really like this and i think i could make a much better music video with this song, it is in the same genre, still slow meaningful and could follow roughly the same ideas i had for the old music video but i can see ALOT more potential. What i love about this song is the massive contrast, the sad slow beginning and end but the booming chorus where you could have the happy group shots , slow motion of mates having a class time!

COSTUMES
Chinos, or something a bit more laid back like slacks just for the guitarist, maybe just a hoody aswell so it looks chilled out and relaxed just playing through a song to himself or the girl.

Another mess around recording at a good location
Experimenting with blurr, zoom, settings, i.s.o, and stuff i found out the landscape setting really does bring the colours out alot. This is similar to the recently added ben howard video, makes everything seem brighter, happier and more dramatic like a normal shot of a pink sk would make it vibrant and glowin i will definately be using this in my music video.
Ben Howard - keep your head up
Once i saw this music video i had to put it up. This is the kind of video that actually has an affect on you some thing like laugh or cry or love. Even though the video has nothing to do with the song lyrics it sort of makes sense and helps you to enjoy the song more, rather than a story lined song or random clips. The only thing that the video relate to the song is the happy factor the bright colours and stauration ect.

My mock digi pack, draft 1
This digi-pack is obviously not as complex as my end result digi-pack. This is what i would like along the lines of, a firm emotive picture on the front and maybe back cover and an ongoing picture or theme through out eh inside of the c.d box, and across the c.d. I would like some thing that you could spend hours looking at and not see everything, like a long shot of a busy fair ground or buzzing landscape all the way through the inside and including the c.d

Muse - Digi pack
This digi pack is cool, slightly different, i like the artwork and how unique it is. Some thing like this would work in my digi pack but i was thinking some thing more along the line of a shot of landscape going through the inside and outside of the album and maybe the odd character standing on the landscape. I like the idea of an ongoing theme or picture like this one, and the graphic on the right is cool , just some thing added to the album, some thing to look at.

Oasis Album Analysis

I like the colours and the concept not sure why but the idea is smart even though it has nothing to do with the album cover.
This is like the landscape shot i was talking about, not quite sure i would be able to achieve this but a shot with lots going on in it draws the eye in.
Digi-pack Evaluation
This image is not an album covour, it is a shot of the rapper Devlin, i like the change of colour in the shot and the depth of field , this is simple but affective and would make a good album covour this is probably some thing that i would be looking at.
Possible album covours, this is obviously not supposed to be or look professional but works , it is similar to "Lose Change" i think it is affective and fun, also shows the carefree attitude of Ed Sheeran and the fact that his album is more about the music and the album cover and digi pack is more fun.
This again is not just a generic photo, because Ed Sheeran is famous and does not need to worry , then he can produce a simple album cover like this, slightly different and somthing happening but all in all not that special once again i like the keeping it simple. it has made me think that i want a shot of a landscape with a character maybe. And then that shot edited to look drawn / scetched.
Ed Sheerans first album, the original covour, i like it because it is relevent to the main single, it is the character form the music video, also it is simple and affective. I would like some thing like this, if it means drawing or creating the picture, editing it in a software i would like an affect other than just a photo.

Location, Location, Location
Perfect for somwhere for the singer, leaning up against that wall on the right, with the guitar, time lapse of the clouds and wind blowing theplants and then just merge the musician into the frame. |

Actors, Locations, Costumes and props.
- Actors
- i have chosen two girls for actors and one male singer. my family have offered to help as i need alot of characters. one of the girls is chelsea, in my class, another is Jasmin from a different college, my mother and father have agreed to take part and my sisters husband as he is perfect for the singing part, he is very rarely free because of his job so it will be hard to get videoing in so i may have to chose a different singer.

Delilah - Go
I snapped this shot because it is similar to what i will be using, the walking towards the camera singing. The setting also caught my eye, i like the fact the hall is light up but where the character is standing is just out of eye sight, it has given me a few ideas for lighting for my film.
This shot was simply to explain the timing, this is a simple shot but the movement of the character and cars noticebly fits in with the music and just makes the video more hard hitting.

I screen grabbed this image because it is a very good use of depth of field, you can see that at this moment the depth is changing to blur the singer out and focus the bacground in / mise enn scene. Depth of field is somthing i will be using but probably not for a shot of the singer, rather the actors and shots of the landscape.
This shot was simply to explain the timing, this is a simple shot but the movement of the character and cars noticebly fits in with the music and just makes the video more hard hitting.

This is the kind of image i will be looking for , for a shot of my singer. I like this becuase it is quite mysterious, almost half of the singers face is blocked out andthe other half is facing away and back light. My shot will be more open as there is no need for mystery in the song i am doing, but still a recurring shot of the singer.
James Blunt - Goodbye
A slightly different shot of the singer. It has given me an idea of not having the same old shot of a guy on a chair singing to a camera, maybe singing while waking up doing everyday routine, cooking, driving ect, i also like the close camera and the depth of field, dont really know what is going on in the background but it doesnt matter.
There is an odd glaze across all of the scene snaps, this makes the scene look quite animated, i like the use of the lights in this scene, making it look naturally lit. and the rule of thirds with the singer in the bottom corner of the shot drawing the eye in on him.
This is another generic shot of the singer, something i have now decided i wont be doing, maybe the odd shot of the generic guitar, chair and singing to the camera. I like the depth of field and the focus on the character and the background is of no importance as it is obviously just his room.
I screen grabbed these two next shots because of the angle they are taken and the wiered light wash over the shot. Its almost like his world brightens up when this angelic soft girl is in his room and all of a sudden the sunlight beaming through the windows is brighter than the original light coming out of the side lamps.

This is just an interesting close angle for every one to get a chance to see this girl that james is singing about.
